Job Creation in the Nigerian Pet Care Industry

The Nigerian Pet Care industry is comatose, the entire focus is on vets. No support services, thus animal abuse is inevitable. A lot of this abuse is as a direct result of ignorance, because even some vets do not know things outside their purview; something has to be done about it. Someone is training coders from scratch and employing them. Lots of coding to be done. This template can be used in all industries.

We have undertaken to do so in the Pet Care Industry; we will train people to become competent Groomers (cats&dogs), Handlers (Dogs), Kennel Managers and Dog Walkers, and provide them with jobs at the conclusion of same.

The thing is, who will fund the training sessions for those that can't afford to pay for their training? We cannot afford to make it elitist. Does one have people that are jobless pay for training they need to get employed??

One day seminars can only help them understand the paths for them, and expose them to some trends in the industry, but actual hands on training is what is needed, and that is a lot of logistics. If you say you train them, then they begin repayment after you employ them; how sure are you they won't leave after? Guarantees, how??

One wonders if there are organizations with trusted candidates that can be partnered with: We put together the curricular, they supply the candidates (no prior experience needed), we train (classrooms and field) & provide jobs. They repay in instalments. Per month.

If we can provide 500 people with sustainable income annually, it's a start. No knowledge needed, just passion & willingness to learn. So, if there's anyone here with a database of trusted employable Nigerians who like pets enough to consider careers with them, holler!

If you know of an organization with focus on job creation that might be willing to partner with us, please let us know. If you have organizational skills that you believe will strengthen our efforts, do get in touch.
We have fooled ourselves enough with our fixation on degrees. Degrees with no content. The time has come to try hands on training.
To tackle poverty, we need to create jobs.
